GAZA-ISRAEL CRISIS: CALL ON THE UK GOVERNMENT TO TAKE ACTION
Over 34,000 people have been killed in Gaza so far. At least 77,000 have been injured and 1.7 million displaced. The ground offensive in Rafah will push these already unacceptable numbers even higher.
While bullets and bombs continue to fly, the hunger crisis in Gaza is also getting worse – taking even more lives. 1.1 million people in the Gaza Strip face catastrophic food insecurity, and one-third of children in the north are acutely malnourished. Famine is imminent. There’s no safe place in Gaza.
We call for an immediate ceasefire to save lives and to allow more humanitarian aid into Gaza. The international community, including the UK, must hold all sides to account for breaches of international law and to ensure the safety and protection of civilians.
Will you add your name to our message to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Foreign Secretary David Cameron?
We call for the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Foreign Secretary David Cameron to urgently use the UK’s diplomatic powers to:
- call for an immediate ceasefire
- increase the daily flow of humanitarian aid coming to Gaza – including water, fuel, food and medicine – to restart vital infrastructure such as hospitals and water and sanitation services
- prioritise the protection of all civilians from military action, including the release of hostages
- ensure International Humanitarian law is upheld
- increase humanitarian funding to urgently meet people’s basic needs
- prevent the use of violence against civilians by Israeli settlers in Area C of the West Bank and end restrictions on the movement of Palestinian communities in the West Bank.
