Gaza is facing a health and humanitarian crisis.

Yet bombs and bullets continue to fly.

Over 2 million people lack access to clean water, food, medicine and energy. Most humanitarian aid to Gaza is unable to reach those desperately in need. More than 45,000 people have already been killed, and imminent famine threatens to take even more lives

The situation in the West Bank has also significantly deteriorated since October 7. Violence from settlers and the military has increased, and Palestinian fields, water lines and agricultural machinery have been destroyed.

In no small part due to public pressure from people like you, in March the UK voted for a ceasefire in Gaza at the UN Security Council. Despite this, the risk to civilians has only increased with the invasion of Rafah and subsequent military action.

Our Government still has the power to use its trade, diplomatic and humanitarian influence to support calls for an immediate and lasting ceasefire. They also have the power to uphold International Humanitarian Law and enable necessary aid to safely reach those who need it.

Your MP has a role to play in pushing the Government to do more to end the crisis in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. And you, as a constituent, hold the power to show them that this matters to you.

So write to them today

Dear [MP NAME],

Over 2 million people lack access to clean water, food and medicine in Gaza. More than 45,000 people have already been killed, and imminent famine threatens to take even more lives.

There are limits to what countries can do in war. Mass casualty attacks in Rafah, in what was an Israeli-designated “safe-zone”, are in violation of International Humanitarian Law and the directives of the International Court of Justice orders.

The situation in the West Bank has also significantly deteriorated since October 7th.  Violence from settlers and the Israeli military has increased, and Palestinian fields, water lines and agricultural machinery have been destroyed.

I welcome steps that this government has taken to address this crisis. But there is more to be done to prevent more lives from being lost.

The UK must strengthen calls for a lasting ceasefire. Only a ceasefire will enable the necessary humanitarian assistance to be distributed, International Humanitarian Law to be upheld and civilian deaths to be prevented.

As your constituent, I urge you to use your role in Parliament to call for the following at every opportunity:

  • The UK must intervene and place diplomatic and political pressure on Israel to implement the latest UN Security Council ceasefire resolution.

  • The UK must hold perpetrators accountable, bringing to light and amplifying evidence of grave violations -- or we risk a deterioration of the international system.

  • The UK must support the provision of humanitarian assistance, including fuel and other essential materials to all parts of Gaza without bureaucratic or military obstruction to address the populations’ most urgent needs.

  • The UK must call on the Government of Israel to immediately extend work visas for humanitarian workers for at least six months, and to immediately begin issuing new work visas for humanitarian workers.

To learn more about the situation in Gaza and what actions you can take, I also urge you to contact the advocacy team at Action Against Hunger UK ([email protected], Jack Feinmann, Parliamentary Relations Manager).

Sincerely,
